Jonathan Adler bookends

I saw this bookend at Barnes and Noble earlier this spring when I absolutely could not shop for myself, but I haven't forgotten about the adorable book-hugging doxie! I looked it up last night and found out there's a B&N version and a rather more expensive version.
Barnes & Noble {$39.95}
Jonathan Adler {$150}
I almost think it's worth it. Is that insane? Oh yeah.  Maybe they'll go on sale!
I can't decide which one looks more like Bailey. Regardless, I think these need to be in my house!

Because sometimes I leave tabs open for a week and don't get around to reading them...

me too, Bailey.

The most beautiful children's books of all time
Radiolab's Mirror, Mirror podcast - what if who you see in the mirror isn't you at all?
Counterfeiting  is an art
I don't know if you were following potential lawsuit against The Oatmeal, but here's where to start. Here's where it stands now.
Star Wars happened here! And hasn't changed! Well, the outside, anyway. (via boing boing)
And last, but not least: You are your bellybutton lint. You're welcome. (Except for David. His is neither concave, nor convex. tmi? no doubt.)

Right now I'm going to do dishes, sweep the stairs, and get my things together for the weekend. While listening to Harry Potter. Want to know something about me? I have 6 of the 7 HP audiobooks and I listen to them all.the.time. We'll see how well that goes over when D and I move in together.

More Kansas-ing - Summer 2011

Weather and growth. The things that define summertime in my Kansas.
Cornfields and clouds, the latter as marked by their searing absense as they are by their ominous, often surprising presence.
I will never understand the people who don't respect our earth. We are entirely at its mercy.

Many ways to love

Young and dashing Alec Baldwin

SNL circa 2000

my pictures from the KC 2012 Color Run (no, I never said I was a photographer)

I had no idea there was going to be a Wizard of Oz prequel!

I just bought these shoes and they are adorable and comfortable. And affordable, which is actually basically those previous two adjectives combined. Adfortable. Same thing.

Not gonna lie, kinda glad the holiday is over. I'm ready for some normal days. We're going to a Friendship Fiesta tomorrow (two friends celebrating their 10 year friendiversary) and I got some challah to make French Toast on Sunday while we watch tennis. I seem to think it was this very weekend last year when we decided it was a great idea to drive out to the lake with the poor dog. David didn't have any swim trunks with him so we pulled in to WalMart and he went in and came back with a package of boxers he decided he could swim in. Finally we got to the lake and the sand was unbearably hot and the water was too warm and we were hungover and it was just bad idea jeans all over the place.  I don't know if I've ever seen Bailey so miserable, poor thing. Here's to the weekend!

my music man

Sometimes takes us a little longer to get down the street than I anticipate

and a little longer to get out of the house

but we don't complain too much.

Here I Go

I've been loving on my hometown so hard lately. Knowing now that I'm a step closer to moving away from it for the first time is incredibly exciting and quite difficult.
The Flaming Lips played two shows last week and the 2nd night was projected on a screen outside so everyone who didn't get a ticket could drink beer outside and enjoy the spectacle

Walking home from the Thursday Farmer's Market with a bag of plums and my puppy dog, Breezy Beezy Bailey B

Flowers for sale outside an apartment for retirees (I can just picture the little white haired ladies and gents who planted, grew, and picked those flowers)

But Kansas City is nice, too. Really nice. I'm so excited for this next step.
